Flying the Target

For three years ending in 2007, Rusty Green was a Bede BD-5J MicroJet pilot on the Joint Cruise Missile Defense (JCMD) program. According to Rusty, "We were flying as surrogate cruise missile radar targets for the military; very low and fast. Really a kick in the ass. Did most of the exercises at White Sands, Nevada Test Range, and Washington, DC." If the aircraft looks somewhat familiar, it should - it was piloted by James Bond in the movie "Octopussy". Rusty is on the right side of the gray MicroJet below.
