Upcoming Annual East Coast Reunion

Barrel Oak WineryThis year's Annual East Coast Reunion hosted by Charlie Seifert along with Tim Davidson and Ed Eberhart will be on June 26th. The venue is Charlie Seifert's Barrel Oak Winery. Charlie would like classmates to contact him now if they are interested in attending. Please email him at chaseif68@verizon.net or charlie@barreloak.com. Please read the invitation below:

Dear Classmate,

During the AFA Society of Washington Founders Day Dinner in April, your classmates in attendance asked when can we have an East Coast Mini-Reunion (ECMR) at “your” winery (I’m a partner, not the proprietor). My first thought was this coming Saturday June 5th (thought that might be appropriate). But with track season underway, I procrastinated getting it together until now.

Here is the formal informal invite:

WHEN: SATURDAY, JUNE 26TH

TIME: THE WINERY IS OPEN UNTIL 9, COME BETWEEN 4 and 6 AND STAY AS LONG AS YOU WANT; come enjoy the sunset over the Shenandoah foothills extension of the Catoctin Range (you can come really at any time, we’re open 11-9)

WHERE: BARREL OAK WINERY, DELAPLANE VA

REFRESHMENTS: BYO picnic fare and something to share (if you’d like); free tastings and you’ll get my discount for any wine you want to drink there or to take home (PLEASE: do not bring any other alcoholic beverages! Soft drinks and water are OK--we sell them too; also have a coffee pot with cups to go)

Barrel Oak Winery can accommodate over 400 people enjoying their food and our wine inside in the main tasting area, in the loft, on the twin patios, and about 30-40 picnic tables on the hill including some inside the deer fence (where the vines are).

DRESS: NOT BLACK TIE! Be comfortable! Barrel Oak is a working farm.

DIRECTIONS: go to website (www.barreloak.com); take exit 23 or 27 off I-66, we’re on the north side of the highway. There are directional signs at Exit 23—look for the very large building on top of a hill. Barrel Oak is on part of the Chief Justice John Marshall farm. His house (1803) and his father’s house (1752) are visible from our outdoor picnic areas. Tours of the Marshall farm (building exteriors only) are possible.

Barrel Oak is a dog friendly winery! Many dogs will be there, bring yours if you wish. We’re kid friendly and mother-in-law friendly too!

ACCOMMODATIONS IN THE AREA: Many great B&B’s nearby, check our website. Nearest cities are Manassas, Winchester, Middleburg, Front Royal, Middletown, and Warrenton.

Please respond to let me know if you can come so we know how much of the winery to rope off. If there’s a better date for you or you'll be the DC area at a later time, let me know.

Look forward to seeing you and your family,

Charlie Seifert
