Some
of our Classmates have kept in-touch or made contact with some of
the 403 former classmates who did not graduate. If you learn of
a recent passing of a former classmate and want to share it with
the Class, please pass the information to me and I'll post it below.

James B. Schindler - like so many he left at the end of
Doolie Year. Jim went on to graduate from Cal Poly and worked as a network
security expert at Hewlett Packard until his retirement in 1999. Overall,
he had been quite successful. Jim leaves three adult children. One of
them, Brandon Schindler, was slated to go to the Olympics as a swimmer,
but a last minute injury kept him out. Interestingly, it was an injury
that caused Jim to fall behind and leave the Academy. Like so many of
those "early graduates" that many of us knew, they are seldom
heard from again. In this case, Jim passed away on June 6th in Poway,
CA at age 80 from congestive heart failure. In the late 1980s, when Jim
was visiting us, I set up a min-reunion between Jim and two friends from
his former 11th Squadron. That was Steve Polk and Paul Gosnell. They had
a great visit. Perhaps there are a few other classmates who still remember
Jim and wondered "Whatever happened to old Jim?" (From: Bob
Pauli)
