The Janssen Family 2009 Holiday Letter

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Holiday Greetings from Colorado.

This picture of our grandsons was taken at Hermosa Beach, CA, where Molly and Bill live. Evan and Alex West are at the top, with Marty Graw, David West, and Van Graw below. We really enjoy any time we get to spend with these great guys.

We lost Debbie's father, B. Gen.
William (Bill) Gernert, USAFRet,
this September. He passed quietly at home at the age of 92 with Mary, his wife of 67 years. We should all be so lucky. He will be sorely missed.
We celebrated his fine life at a funeral service at First Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs and then a full military service at the Air Force Academy Cemetery that included a fly by of two F-15 fighters. It was a wonderful gathering of the clan.

Life continues to be very good for us in Colorado. We had a full year that included time spent with family and friends here and on the road.

Debbie sings with her group of ladies, lunches and shops with her buddies, and looks forward to visits with our kids and grandkids. She also spends at least one day a week with her mother.

I teach from time to time at the Academy, finished a three year term chairing a committee for our local school board, and raised my hand for a vacant position on the board of the Academy's Association of Graduates. I'll find out about the board position in February.

We've sponsored cadets at the Air Force Academy long enough that we now have them living all over the world. It is a pleasure to keep up with their lives, and we really appreciate their service.

Holler if your travels bring you to Colorado.

Carl and Debbie Janssen
