The Hoffman Family 2010 Holiday Letter

Season's greetings from Colorado and New Jersey!

We have not been very good at Christmas cards and letters for a few years, but we're committed to rectifying that in 2010...at least for this year.

For those with whom we have not been very good at communicating, here's what's happened the last decade or so. Gary's promise to settle down after retirement from the Air Force didn't quite work out. As additional opportunities presented themselves, we have moved four times since then. We finally realized a few years ago that we should finally decide where we want to live when we grow up. Gary's current position with NetJets allows us to live wherever we want as long as he has a home office and is near an international airport. So, the hunt began!

Gary's first suggestion was Hawaii, but that was too far away from friends and family for Mary. The search stretched from Asheville to the Puget Sound and a lot of places in between. We finally settled on the Colorado Front Range. After investigating Fort Collins to Colorado Springs, we found some land we loved in the Black Forest and decided to build.

Meanwhile, Marc has inherited a bit of that same wanderlust that has led him on a series of adventures since his graduation from Yale. He is currently living in Istanbul, Turkey. He does research and writing for the Oxford Business Group and some freelance writing on the side. His first byline was an article published in The Nation earlier this year. He married Rana, a corporate lawyer in Istanbul, in September and they are planning their next adventure together.

We are splitting our time between Colorado and New Jersey as we are in the process of selling our New Jersey home. Unfortunately, there has not been nearly enough time out West. Mary is ready to start decorating and settling into a permanent home! The plan is to make the move into our Colorado home after the Warren house is sold, hopefully early next year.

We will have plenty of room for guests and look forward to sharing Colorado with family and friends. Please consider including a few days in the Black Forest on your next trip.

We hope things are well for you and look forward to hearing about the latest news at your end.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas and enjoyable holiday season with family and friends! Our best wishes for a happy and prosperous new year!
