Aloha and Merry Christmas to all Menehunes and friends of Menehunes,

2020 …. WOW !!!! That was the year that was …… Lotta surprises, lotta curveballs and, for some people, a lotta tragedy.

Vic and Mary and family seem to have missed most of the bad and actually enjoyed a lot of good.

We found "secret beaches" so we could keep exercising while avoiding both other people and the authorities that seemed to be always looking for ways to deny citizens both exercise and fun.

We found ways to turn isolation and "social distancing" into home improvement activities, lots of pushups and crunches, chess, long walks, long swims, good books and more time together.

Vic started the year as an academic professor and flight instructor at a Mainland university and ended the year as the Chief Instructor for a Honolulu flight school. Just soloed Flight Student # 50 and hope to solo many more. Having fun and making money triumphed over the virus ….. so far.

We realize that although the vaccine seems to be almost within reach, the virus is still dictating the terms of many lives and we continue to distance and observe the protocols that have kept us safe for this long. We realize that it's not over 'til it's over. And we pray that will be soon.

We're still balancing our love for the warm climate, sunny skies and natural beauty of Hawaii against our strong desire to be closer to family, so keep us in your prayers while we go through that decision. The virus made it easier to take our house off the market and stay put, but, if the medics triumph over this virus as they have over so many other diseases, we'll be back in the decision making mode once again. Grandchildren are calling ….
