Mark Conan Wise

Mark Wise died in October of 2016 from bone marrow cancer. Mark’s records at the Academy identify him as Francis Clay Wise, a name he never liked and that he replaced with Mark. Before the Academy, Mark attended El Camino College and UCLA. While at the Academy Mark was known for his academic talent and active involvement in several cadet clubs. He was in the Master’s in engineering management program in addition to a major in economics and a minor in psychology. He lettered in water polo and was a member of the sabre drill team. After the Academy Mark completed an MBA at UCLA. Following his Air Force service, Mark worked at a senior systems engineer for over 20 years. His last position was with NASA. After a move from California to Hawai’i Mark worked on a ranch and did small business support and consulting between trips to the mainland where he traveled the western United States in his 34 foot RV with his wife Cynthia. Mark is survived by his wife Cynthia who lives on the Big Island in Hawai’i, his stepdaughter and granddaughter Chandra and Kailani Cynthia who live in Colorado.
