Distinguished Graduate Award Dinner - July 25, 2025
  It
was a super event on Friday, July 25, 2025 when we attended the celebration
and Distinguished Graduate Award presentation to our Classmate Bill
Begert. The social reception was outside on the Eagle Peak with dinner
following in the Generations Balltoom of the new Hotel
Polaris at the Academy North Gate. The honorees were Gen. (Ret.) William
"Bill" Begert, Class of 1968, and Mr. Jerome "Jerry"
Bruni, Class of 1970, recognizing Academy graduates who have set themselves
apart through a lifetime of significant contributions to the nation, the
Academy and their communities. Bill was the third member of our Class
to receive the award - Ed Eberhart
in 2010 and Charlie Holland
in 2016. There were 24 Classmates attending - I was able to get pictures
of the Janssen's and Palermo's the next day at Carl and Debbie's new home.
Just after I arrived, I was introduced to Col. (Ret) Max Miller, Class
of 1959 who showed me a picture he took in the parking lot of my Vette's
license plate (USAFA68) and told me about the 100+ Corvettes that all
arrived at the same time by rail in the Spring of 1959 for his Class. |
